Been looking for a while now for a new EDC / Work knife.
Currently carry a Kershaw Leek Ted Nugent and use it DAILY.
Have carried a CRKT M16EDC - wouldn't buy it again... goes dull if you look at it wrong.
I am looking for a assisted open / textured grip folder... any suggestions that can be brought from personal use?

I would be careful with anything that is "assisted open" because in canada anything spring loaded or opened by gravity is technically illegal.
But a one handed opener via a stud or something similiar are legal.
i would get a classic smith and wesson, cheap too. most models have a serrated edge for utility.
But not the knidof knife you would want to try and sharpen.. lol

Actually, there's no problem with quote: "assisted open" - no gravity or 'AUTO' open knives.
Check out the Kershaw Leek - perfectly legal. It's got a stud and a lock on the bottom.
I've got a S&W Search and Rescue - and a cheaper S&W knnife on my GHB... both very nice utility fixed blades.
Was looking at RAT knives and Spyderco - any experience?

Was looking at RAT knives and Spyderco - any experience? To my knowledge, neither companies make assisted opening knives, but they do make excellent knives the fit the EDC role. I usually cycle through my EDC knives and the ones I carry the most are the Spyderco Tenacious and Ontario RAT-1. Both knives are great great value for the price paid. However, neither of those are assisted opening. If you like the Leek, I would recommend you check out the Blur, also by Kershaw. Wears the same "speedsafe" assisted opening mechanism with textured scales (although the flat areas provide more grip than the textured surface). If you give more details on your needs out of the knife and your budget, I could suggest more options.
