i have the same gun in 20ga. I was stoked to find a 20ga in a tactical getup
i also dont run a side saddle, but a elastic buttstock shellholder. i holds the 20 ga shells okay,
my only complaint is that i can not find any buckshot in 20ga like none at all.

Nice photo Wish...I gotta take a nice pic of mine sometime. How do you like Winchester ammo? I shoot it all...mostly Remington slugs and buckshot (000) and Winchester bird shot but latly I've been buying Winchester's 15 1oz rifled slugs "vaule pack" at Canadian Tire and love em.

I get that AA target stuff at 250rds/60$ - therefore, I LOVE IT.
It's good for practise... not much else.
Saving my pennies to buy some bulk 00Buck

I've got to throw in a +1 for the 15 round value pack of rifled slugs from Canadian Tire. I used to use the Challenger ones, but switched over when I found these work equally in both my shotguns and are far more available. The Challenger slugs are great, but twice the price and I have to take time off work and drive about 75 minutes to get to the only place that I know sells them.
As for other ammo, I use the Winchester Universal loads by the case from CT or Wal-mart for practice and never had a problem with it. I've run some Federal #8 birdshot through my guns as well with no issues.
Before I digress too much, that's a smooth 870 you've got there. Are the rumors I hear about the Express models true? I've heard that they take on a nasty surface rust very easily and that some have some jamming and feeding issues. Mostly, it's been chalked up to the stories of Remington's steep decline in quality control in recent years.
I'm currently in the process of building up a shotgun of similar purpose. I was planning on using a Mossberg 500 Persuader as a base for it, but when I ran into an older 870 Wingmaster at my favorite gun shop for 80 bucks..... With the Wingmaster's record, the 870's variety of parts and aftermarket accessories, I said "Hell, why not build it on an 870"

well, my 870 hasnt failed on me yet after over 1000 rounds and its the the new "crappy 870 express" while some parts are roughly finished i haven't broken anything yet (a big yet haha). As for the surface rust? yes it's true the finish is terrible. i just use an aerosol gun oil and spray it on heavily. cover it all give it a quick wipe and it's gtg for months
